The model consists of five cars. There are three different types of car; – a driving trailer car, a van trailer car and a power car.

There are three different kinds of bogies on the model. They are identified as bogie 'A', 'B' and 'C'.

The illustration of the complete model shows where the different bogies are located.

The method of construction is basically the same for all three cars, the van trailer car is described first as this is the simplest.

  1. Carefully remove the main body part from the waste card.
  2. Fold along all the pre-scored lines. The long scores running the length of the body can be folded against a straight edge.
  3. Completely overlap and glue tabs 'D' so that the body forms a tube.
    See Fig. 1
  4. Fold up the bulkheads and glue into position.
  5. Fold up the end panels and glue into position.
  6. Fold the bogie recess panels into position and glue tabs 'E' to the inside of the body.

  7. Make up bogies 'A' and 'B'

  1. – 4. As van trailer car.
  2. Fold and glue the separate end panel into position at the rear of the car.
  3. Fold and glue the front end panel into position. 'F' tucks under the small tab 'D'.

Power Car

  1. – 2. As van trailer car.
  2. Glue panels 'G' and 'H' and the circuit breaker panel into position in roof.
  3. Completely overlap and glue tabs 'D' so that the body forms a tube.
  4. Fold up the bulkheads and glue into position.
  5. Fold up the end panels and glue into position.
  6. Fold the bogie recess panels into position and glue tabs 'E' to the inside of the body.
  7. Overlap and glue tabs 'J' on pantograph part 1.
  8. Glue tabs 'K' on pantograph part 1.
    See Fig. 5
  9. Glue the circuit breaker into position on its panel.
  10. Glue the pantograph platform into place onto panel 'H'.
  11. Glue 'J' on pantograph part 1 to the position marked on the pantograph platform.
  12. Glue insulators 9 and 10 into position on panel 'G'.
  13. Pull up the other insulators 2 – 11. Cut 1/8 inch strips of card from waste material and use it to join up points 1 to 11 in sequence.

Assembly

  1. Make up the covers by overlapping and gluing 'M' to 'M' in each case.
  2. The covers are glued in place between the cars.
    See Fig. 7, for position.
  3. Glue all bogies in place.

Bogies

The three types of bogie are made in the same way:

  1. Overlap and glue tab 'L' on the bogie outer frame.
  2. Make up the inner bogie as shown.
  3. Glue outer frame and inner bogie together as shown. Make sure that the bottom edges of each align so that the wheels show below the outer frame.
  4. Make up the bogie mounts as shown and glue onto the inner bogie.
